WEST ROOFING SYSTEMS, INC. WINS TWO INDUSTRY AWARDS DURING SPRAY POLYURETHANE FOAM ALLIANCE CONVENTION
West Roofing Systems, Inc. is a proud recipient of two 2020 SPFA National Industry Excellence Awards. The awards were accepted last week at the 2020 Spray Foam Convention & Expo in Pasadena, California.
At the annual industry awards gala, West Roofing Systems competed against a roster of industry-related projects across the country. A national panel of industry experts judged nominations on parameters including:
- value for money
- speed of delivery
- environmental sustainability
- innovation
- best practices
- problem-solving
- risk mitigation
West Roofing Systems won 2nd place for its outstanding work with MTD in Willard, OH. The category was Foam Roof Over 40,000 square feet.
Summary of MTD:
- 384,000 sq. ft.
- 52-day deadline
- 2.5″ foam and 30 mils of silicone coating
- Use of 3 robotic foam applicators at the same time
- 14 crew operation
- 20-year warranty granted
Project was completed for half the cost, with a higher R-value, and completed faster than competitive bids.

West Roofing Systems won 2nd place for its outstanding work with Thor Mann Residence in Croton-On-Hudson, NY. The category was Foam Roof Under 40,000 square feet.
Summary of Thor Mann Residence:
- 6,512 sq. ft.
- Frank Lloyd Wright designed
- Built in 1940s
- Owners needed energy savings, but also needed to maintain its architectural beauty
- Real stone chimneys w/copper flashings fully encapsulated as part of roofing system
- New edge metal installed around every perimeter
- 2.5″ foam and 25 mils of silicone coating
- Unique, four-color blend of granules embedded into top coating
This project had to utilize the best of the best, including bringing retired applicators out of their sales roles due to the critical nature of the project aesthetics, overspray concerns and the landscape of the structure.
